Start with the barrier, not the product
An occupational therapy or home assessment should identify the tasks that are unsafe or impossible. A rail, layout change or equipment may solve the problem more simply than major building work.
Do not start before written approval
Ask the council what assessments, quotations, landlord consent, planning permission and building control evidence are required. Starting work too early can jeopardise funding.
