Walk your ordinary routes

Visit the grocery shop, public transport stop and pharmacy from the actual accommodation. Try a weekday and an evening. Note gradients, crossings, lighting and places to rest. A short distance on a map does not establish an easy route.

Keep a short daily record

Record everyday spending, noise, indoor comfort and travel time. Separate personal observations from facts still requiring confirmation. Compare an ordinary week with your current routine, rather than treating a holiday week as a complete picture.

  • What worked without help?
  • What required a car or another person?
  • What must be checked in a different season?

Inspect the home in detail

Check access, stairs, lift availability, bathroom layout, ventilation and usable shade. Ask who handles repairs and which costs are included. Photograph relevant details only with permission. Do not infer a winter-ready home from a sunny terrace.

Decide what remains unresolved

List confirmed strengths, practical drawbacks and unanswered questions. Check residence, healthcare and tax arrangements separately with the responsible authorities or qualified advisers. Keep the option of another trial stay or a return home before signing a lasting commitment.
