Write down all intended dates, including other recent trips relevant to your immigration position. Ask whether the stay remains a visit or requires a residence route. Do not assume that a rental contract, repeated border crossing or the label winter stay extends your permission.
Ask for a complete accommodation quote
Request the price for the exact dates and occupants, including utilities, cleaning, local charges and the deposit. Ask about heating, cooling, internet, laundry and maintenance. Establish whether visits from family change the charge or permission to occupy.
Check insurance for the full stay
Check the maximum continuous trip length, residence requirements, pre-existing conditions, age limits and activities against the actual wording. Ask the insurer about extensions before departure and what happens if you must remain abroad longer. A general annual policy title does not prove cover for a long stay.
Include the home you leave behind
Include ongoing housing charges, trusted keyholding and any necessary property checks. Make arrangements for post, bills and an early return. If a temporary stay becomes a proposed move, use the retiring-abroad checklist before making commitments.
