Start with the whole journey
Write down the journey from your front door to your room, including check-in, changes and the last transfer. Compare the number of changes as well as the scheduled travel time. Leave the first evening free of fixed activities.
One main activity, room for a break
Choose one main activity for each day and keep optional visits separate. Check the actual distance, slopes, seating and return transport. Opening hours and ticket conditions should be confirmed with the attraction before booking.
- Morning: one planned visit
- Midday: a break near the accommodation
- Afternoon: an optional walk or a quiet day
Prepare a weather alternative
Keep a nearby indoor option and a day without advance tickets. Ask the accommodation about shade, cooling or heating for your dates. A scenic photograph cannot show how hot, noisy or busy a place will be during your stay.
Compare two realistic plans
Compare a single base with several day trips against changing accommodation. Add luggage transfers, local transport and unused prepaid activities to the budget. A longer stay in one place may suit your plans, but calculate the actual offers before deciding.
